Housing Client Resources

We provide phone advice (which includes screening for full representation services) for tenants and landlords in Anoka, Hennepin in Ramsey Counties on the following landlord/tenant issues:

  • Eviction Expungement
  • Tenants who want landlords to make repairs (rent escrow actions)
  • Low-income landlords (must be owner occupied) who need help evicting a tenant, family member or over staying guest.

We also provide legal assistance to tenant and landlords for evictions in Anoka, Hennepin and Ramsey Counties.

  • Do NOT call our phone intake to access these services
  • Please ask for legal assistance when you arrive in court for the first appearance in your eviction case.
  • Please contact Homeline if you need more specific legal information and 211 for financial or housing information.

If you have landlord/tenant issues that are not covered here, please contact Homeline (advice only) or your local Legal Aid (1-877-696-6529).

For phone advice:

  • After being approved for services through intake, a volunteer attorney will attempt to call you on the phone at a specific window of time, typically between 2-4pm. The attorney will provide advice and screen for further services (if eligible) during a 15-20 minute advice session over the phone.
  • Please do not miss the call from the volunteer attorney, as they may not be able to call you a second time. Please email any paperwork relating to questions you may have about your case to Kait.Ripley@vlnmn.org before your call with a volunteer lawyer.
  • After being approved for services through intake, a volunteer attorney will attempt to call you on the phone at a specific window of time, typically between 2-4pm. At housing court:

  • When you arrive at housing court for the first hearing in your eviction case, please request the assistance of a free lawyer. You will be screened for qualification for legal services at that time.
