How to contact us through a phone call
Call us at (612) 752-6677 on Monday through Thursday from 10:00am to 1:00pm to talk with one of our non-lawyer employees. Please be ready to be on hold for a while.
An employee will ask questions about you and your legal issue to see if we can help you. If we cannot help, you will be directed to free or low-cost help when possible.
If we can help you, a volunteer lawyer will contact you for free legal advice. In some cases, a lawyer may be able to help with filling out paperwork or go with you to court and represent you, depending on your legal issue.

Legal Access Point (LAP)
Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings. Doors open at 8:00am. First come, first served, and the clinic fills-up quickly.

Issues: Conciliation and District Court cases. We do not advise businesses.
Family Law Clinic
Hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:30am through 11:30pm. Sign up at 8:00am.

Bankruptcy Clinic – St. Paul
Hours: Second Thursday of the month, 11:00pm-1:00pm. First come, first served. Clients strongly encouraged to arrive by noon as the final consultation must start by 12:30pm and if there are no clients by noon, the attorney will leave early.

Community Clinics
VLN offers free legal consultations in-person at different sites. Services are provided in English and Spanish. Interpretation is available for other languages. Community clinics are closed in inclement weather, holiday weeks and January.
Park Avenue Legal Clinic – South Minneapolis
Hours: First through fourth Thursdays of the month. At 2:30pm, appointments between 3:00pm and 4:30pm are assigned based on capacity and case type– not in order of arrival. Please do not arrive before 2:30pm.

Client Grievance Policy
If you feel that you were treated unfairly or unprofessionally by Volunteer Lawyers Network (VLN), you can let us know. This policy explains how to make a complaint and how VLN will respond. We take all concerns seriously and want to make sure everyone is treated with respect and care.
Notice for Individuals Who are Incarcerated
Please note that Volunteer Lawyers Network cannot respond to any mail sent by people who are incarcerated in Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC) facilities that contract for mail services with TextBehind®. Additionally, we cannot respond to any mail sent by people who are incarcerated in any jail or other correctional facility that contracts with TextBehind® mail services. Volunteer Lawyers Network does not have an account with TextBehind®.
