The Criminal Expungement Thunderdome is a two-part training that involves supported representation of a pro bono criminal expungement client. Attorneys will select a pro bono client at the first training, actively work with the client between trainings, and will complete representation after a brief court appearance that will take place in early 2016. The first training (10/27, 2-3:30 PM) is a crash course in criminal expungement law and will cover reading records, gathering information from the client, and using the HotDocs expungement pleadings generator. The second training (12/8, Noon-1:30 PM) will be a collaborative Q & A session followed by instruction on completing the pleadings, service and filing, and court appearances. Attorneys will complete representation of the client in approximately six months’ time and can expect to spend 15-20 hours working on the case including client meetings, the two trainings, drafting pleadings, and court representation.
This is intended for attorneys willing to immediately accept representation of a pro bono client as part of the collaborative training and registration is capped at 12, so please only register if you are willing to accept these terms.
