The new administration has signaled many changes impacting unaccompanied children and their family members. The AILA pro bono committee is excited to offer a panel to help you learn practical ways to protect your clients and information on opportunities to engage with local pro bono efforts to serve impacted children. Panelists will address national trends in enforcement against UAC’s, updates on Special Immigrant Juvenile Status law and best practices, updates on representing UAC’s before USCIS and the immigration courts, and updates on how changes to the Central American Minor program affect our community. Also stay tuned for an upcoming training to be announced on responding to increased enforcement and detention of sponsors of UAC’s and efforts to equip these at-risk individuals with knowledge of their rights in order to prevent or mitigate harm to these families.

Presenters: Michelle Rivero (moderator), Ana Pottratz Acosta, Rebecca Scholtz, Micaela Schuneman, Kara Rieke, Alison Griffith.

Cost: Free to AILA members; light refreshments served
