Minnesota’s eviction moratorium has helped protect Minnesotan renters throughout the pandemic. But even with the moratorium, there are many low-income renters and even some low-income landlords in Minnesota that need legal assistance.

This training will provide the basics on Governor Walz’s Executive Order 20-79, which lays out Minnesota’s moratorium, exceptions to the moratorium where evictions can be filed, and what volunteers need to know when advising or defending tenants on evictions during these unique times. The training will also touch briefly on the federal moratoriums (CARES Act and CDC) and what effect they have in Minnesota. The training will end with ways volunteers can get involved NOW to assist low-income renters even before the moratorium ends.
