In February 2017, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that it would target the family members of unaccompanied children (UCs) who had engaged in illegal smuggling or trafficking of an alien child into the United States. Later this year, the DHS arrested and detained about 400 caretakers of UCs across the country. The CLE hosted by Lindquist & Vennum, will discuss current trends in this area and the immigration and criminal consequences that can result from smuggling allegations.
